Looking for rain
For the past two weeks we have endured highs of 100 to 104 almost every day. We had an opportunity for rain when a cool front sagged into North Texas. It was disappointing to see storms develop on the horizon, but no clouds in the immediate area that could get big enough to form a downpour.
The lawn is going to waste for the second straight year. Last year it was my fault as it was my first full summer being responsible for a lawn, and I didn’t use enough water. This year I was ready with soaker hoses, but then the water restrictions escalated to stage 2. At this level, soaker hoses are allowed only during a few inconvenient hours a week. Any other time, only hand watering is allowed and I don’t have time for that.
We do have more chances for rain this week. Against all odds, another cool front is pushing into North Texas, so some storms may form in the San Antonio area on Monday and Tuesday. Late in the week, an easterly wave, a tropical disturbance in the trade winds, is expected to reach the South Texas coast.
